Tidbits

We went to church and served dinner to some homeless families on Thursday night. Hollis was still not feeling up to par but she served them with a skip in her step and a smile on her face. She kept saying

"Mama, this is fun."

I was so proud of her.

It felt so good to serve as the hands and feet of God for the evening.
I decided we need to do much much more of that in our family.

We spent Sat evening with the Hedenbergs and some neighbors and friends. Leslie and Ben leave on Wed for Knoxville. I couldn't be more happy for this new chapter in their lives but am not looking forward to the void I will feel when they leave. My Mom always used to say that it is harder to be left than it is to leave.  Whether one agrees with this sentiment or not, I know my heart is a little heavier this week, to be sure.

Dog for Sale

Do you need a good dog? I have one to sell you.
He's Friendly enough (he only growls at kids, but has never bitten one to my knowledge).

He doesn't eat much (But does require homemade chicken broth poured over his food nightly).

He is a great watchdog( Ask anyone who has ever walked withen 200 miles of our house. Our neighbors claim they can hear him bark when they are inside their house and he's inside of ours).

He has unique dead fish odor breath (Now that's a rare thing these days.)

He has a admirable sense of adventure(Just leave the door open for 5 seconds and then spend the next hour or two searching for him)

He is a great bedmate(He only jumps on and off the bed 3 times a night).

He brings out some interesting reactions when he meets other dogs( He only gets along with my parents dog Hogan-and that's just because he has known him for 10 years.)

Still not convinced??
This senior still has some spunk...just see what he did to my screen door yesterday.
So hurry, hurry, hurry this offer won't last for long(or until Jason sees this post and makes me remove it).

Kelly Corrigan | Borders Media

Kelly Corrigan Borders Media

I read Kelly Corrigan's heart tugging memoir, The Middle Place, last year and loved it.
I cannot imagine battling Stage 3 breast cancer at 36 years old.
All while being a Mama to two sweet little girls.
But she did it.
She kicked Cancer's Rear End and then wrote a book about it!!

When I watched the above clip(click on Kelly Corrigan Borders Media) about her newest book ,
I cried.
Because I have these same bittersweet thoughts everyday.
It's so very true.
"We won't come back here."

Sick

I wish I could post that we are outside frolicking in this 60 degree weather.
But we are not.
Hollis is sick.
I think she has gone through 199 Kleenex's today already.
I have two dinners to bake for new Mamas this week so I had to take her to the store to get some things.
Halfway through, she tells me
"my nose is ready to go home."
Who can argue with that?
So, if you need us, we are here. On the couch. Watching I Love Lucy.
And admiring Hollis' new non-politically correct  gun she picked out at the dollar store.

Who Knew?

I have a little known fact to share with you this Monday morning.
If someone accidentally drops a jar of Benefiber into the fishbowl,
The fish does not die.
Please do not ask me how I know this.
I just do.

The Weekend

Hollis had her gal pals over to visit on Sat.
This picture is FUNNY on so many Levels.
We had the first nice Spring Day this weekend. Everyone was out walking or riding bikes and waving to one another.
Like bears coming out of their caves after long winter naps.
Hollis and I went for a bike ride too. Jason played security and just walked along.
She had me bike around with one of her teddy bears in the babyseat of my bike.
Sorry, there are No pictures of that.Nor will there ever be.

It's been a really nice relaxing weekend. Library, church, games of Old Maid, yardwork, visiting with neighbors...
Hope your weekend was just as relaxing and easy.
PS Hollis just infomed me that when I take pictures of her, she can't concentrate on her riding. Hmmmm..

Mary Poppins goes to the Childrens Museum

Hollis thought I looked like Mary Poppins today.
I bet she has called me that 10 times- at least. I let her take a picture of me.
Maybe she was just excited because I had on makeup and earrings??
We went to the Childrens Museum today. It has been so long since we've been there.
Just the two of us together.  I miss those days a lot.
We went to see the Barbie Exhibit.
Boy, did that bring back memories

See this really fun Egyptian Parade with all the happy children?
My child would have NONE OF THAT
I begged. I pleaded. I bribed.
I wondered how weird it would look if a certain 35 year old Mama took a drum and starting marching with them.
Without her child.
but I refrained myself.
Aren't you glad?
